Opal

October has two birthstones, tourmaline and opal. Opal comes in a variety of of colors, the most common being a milky white base color color which reflects a rainbow of pastel shades, including pink, blue, and green. The black opal reflects blue, gray, green, and bright red tones. The fire opal is more translucent or yellowish with fiery sparks of red, yellow and orange. Opal is said to enhance cosmic consciousness and induce psychic and mystical visions. It is thought to stimulate originality, creativity, and self-expression.
